Housebuilder delivers £2 million funding boost for Wymondham

An investment of more than £2 million in local services is being provided as part of the planning agreement for a Bovis Homes location in Wymondham.

Vistry Group, which is building the properties under its Bovis Homes brand at the Birch Gate development, is providing the money for sports and leisure facilities, public transport, education, library services and green infrastructure.

The first phase of 214 homes at Birch Gate has now been completed. Work is underway on a second phase of 35 properties, including a range of three, four, and five-bedroom houses, plus two affordable one-bedroom apartments.

Plans for a further 217 homes which would complete the Birch Gate development are currently being considered by South Norfolk Council.

Birch Gate is located on land between Silfield Road and Rightup Lane on the south-eastern edge of the town. The development is part of a wider 700-home scheme being delivered by a consortium of housebuilders.

Jason Colmer, sales and marketing director for Vistry Eastern, said: “Investment in local services and infrastructure is absolutely vital to support new housing developments and ensure that the new communities being established there are able to thrive.

“The £2 million that we are providing under the planning agreement for Birch Gate is being used to fund a wide range of services in Wymondham and the surrounding area, from sports and leisure facilities to libraries and education for local schoolchildren.

“This funding will provide a significant boost to the local area and will benefit not only people moving to the Birch Gate but also existing members of the community who have lived here for many years.”
