Construction reaches final stages at new Coventry development

Construction work is nearing completion at a new 69-home development in Coventry, where all the properties for sale have now been purchased.

Bellway has begun building the final three homes at The Hedgerows, a collection of two, three and four-bedroom houses, which is located off Scots Lane in the suburb of Coundon.

The development comprises 51 homes which have been sold to private buyers and 18 properties provided as affordable housing for rent or shared ownership.

Bellway began work on the site in 2018 and the final homes are due to be completed in March.

As part of the planning agreement with Coventry City Council, Bellway has provided funding of more than £468,000 for local services, including £262,209 for education, £15,811 towards healthcare, and £139,132.51 towards a biodiversity offsetting scheme.

Elaine Brown, Head of Sales for Bellway South Midlands, said: “The Hedgerows has delivered a variety of high-quality homes in an attractive and accessible location on the northern outskirts of Coventry.

“The opportunity to live in a brand-new neighbourhood on the edge of beautiful countryside just two miles from the city centre has been a huge draw for buyers. The green open spaces of Coundon Wedge and Coundon Hall Park are both within walking distance, while the development’s position to the north-west of the city, and close to the A45, is ideal for those commuting to Birmingham.

“The Hedgerows has attracted interest from both local buyers and those moving from further afield. Several of our customers have relocated from London in search of better value for money and a more relaxed lifestyle within commuting distance of the capital. The semi-rural location and the fact that Coventry railway station is only a 10-minute drive away are two of the main reasons why they have chosen to buy at The Hedgerows.”
