Last call for budding engineers to work for award winning firm

Finning UK & Ireland has issued a last call for its next generation of engineers as the deadline to apply for its award-winning apprentice programme approaches. The company has at least fourteen opportunities up for grabs, a number of which will be based out of its Irish offices in Belfast and Dublin.

The deadline for budding engineers to apply is Friday 28 February, 2020. The opportunities are available to work as an apprentice engineer in the company’s equipment, power generation or technology divisions with the potential to be based at the Lisburn branch in Northern Ireland or in Rathcoole, Dublin.

The recruitment process will last between three and six months with the successful candidates starting their new roles in September 2020. Applicants need to have at least four GCSEs at grade C or above, including English, maths and a science subject.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an apprentice day at a purpose-built training centre in Staffordshire, where they will complete a series of practical activities, team exercises and a career discussion.

Those who impress on the day will be invited to complete a period of work experience at Finning, in one of its regional branches, to experience first-hand what the role entails. Successful candidates will be offered a four-year apprenticeship working in its equipment or power solutions division, or with SITECH UK & Ireland, the company’s technology subsidiary.

“Becoming an apprentice is one of the best ways to get a foot on the career ladder. The Finning apprentice scheme is one of the most immersive available in the construction, energy and transportation sector today,” explained Lisa Craddock, Finning Recruitment Manager

“It’s a really good way to start your career at Finning. We have managers across the company and even members of the Finning executive team who began their careers as an apprentice on this programme, which demonstrates how much we like to invest in and nurture home-grown talent.”
