• Announcement marks one-year anniversary of Collaborative Delivery Framework
• Kier has secured six schemes in the first year of the Framework with a significant pipeline of works to follow across the South West
• Last year Kier was appointed to Lot 2 of the CDF’s South West Hub, alongside consultant Atkins

Kier is passing the one-year anniversary of the launch of the Environment Agency’s Collaborative Delivery Framework (CDF) by announcing that it has secured six contracts to improve the resilience to flooding for communities across the South West. In addition, a significant portfolio of Early Contractor Involvement commissions are in place to support its Lot 1 Partner Atkins in the appraisal and design for future schemes within the programme.

In Bath, Kier will start upgrading the floodgates at Twerton this summer as part of a £5.1m project which provides two new water level control gates and reduces the risk of flooding to around 200 homes and other properties in the area.

In Brislington, Bristol and Helston, Cornwall, Kier is delivering brand-new flood defence schemes to reduce the risk of flooding to communities. In Brislington, the £1.2m scheme will protect more than 100 properties and in Helston, 121 properties will be better protected from flooding thanks to a new £2m scheme which will include new flood defences along the east side of the River Cober.

Last year, Kier was appointed to the Environment Agency’s brand-new CDF. The CDF is made up of six locally-based Collaborative Delivery Teams (CDT), with each CDT including a separately appointed consultant and contractor. Kier was awarded a place on Lot 2 of the South West Hub, working with Atkins to deliver works to the South West of England covering Devon, Cornwall and Wessex.
