Crosslane secures planning consent for 583 bed student accommodation development
Crosslane have announced that they have secured planning consent to build a 19-storey student accommodation development in Coventry.
The cleared derelict site is just to the south of Coventry city centre, at the junction of Friar’s Road and St Patrick’s Road. The purpose-built scheme will comprise 140 studios and 443 cluster flats with communal areas.
Crosslane has appointed DAY Architectural as architect for the development.
On completion, which is expected to be by September 2019, the premises will be operated by Prime Student Living, the student accommodation arm of Crosslane.
Go-ahead for the Coventry scheme follows the news of Crosslane securing conditional planning consent for a 117-bed purpose-built student accommodation development in Leeds last week.
Mike Moran, development manager at Crosslane Student Developments, said: “The proposed scheme will act as a gateway from the station into the heart of the city centre and is a short walk to Coventry University. At 583 beds, the scheme will be a significant contribution to easing the supply/demand fundamentals which persist for purpose-built student accommodation in the city.”
