Climingo Raises £290,000 to Bring Total Transparency to Weather Forecasting

Climingo launches the world’s first independent marketplace for weather forecasting, so businesses finally know which forecaster to trust. The platform assesses major forecasters plus new AI models against a customer’s exact location, variables and decision thresholds, then connects them to the best fit, at no cost to the customer.

No single forecaster gets it right everywhere, and until now, no one has had an independent way to assess who to use. During the August heatwave, Climingo tracked predictions from leading forecasters including ECMWF, GFS and Met Office for the national peak differed by 2.8°C, rising to 4.4°C at city level, just one example of the performance gaps regularly assessed by Climingo.

Forecast gaps carry a hefty global price tag: insured losses from weather-related catastrophes hit $107 billion in 2025, according to Swiss Re. Wildfires, storms and floods now drive a record 92% of all insured natural catastrophe losses worldwide. A few degrees can be the difference between pouring concrete on time, a trading position worth millions, or spotting a flood risk early – some of the thousands of daily decisions businesses base on weather forecasts.

Dr Avi Baruch, Co-Founder and CEO of Climingo, said: “In a market of hundreds of weather data providers, I realised businesses lacked independent advice. With summer heatwaves becoming commonplace and El Niño likely to make seasonal forecasts diverge even more than usual – businesses need to know they’re making the right choice.”

Carbon13 led the £290,000 round, with additional backing from OnePlanetCapital and Innovate UK. Funding will be used to scale the platform, expand provider coverage, and grow partnerships across key sectors for weather forecasting.

Co-founders Dr Avi Baruch and Alper Dincer met and founded the business through Carbon13’s venture builder programme. Baruch previously co-founded flood forecasting company Previsico, taking the Loughborough University spinout to Series A with multi-million pound revenues. Dincer, Climingo’s CTO, has more than 20 years’ experience building geospatial and drought-monitoring systems for governments and the UN, and created Drought.UK, a free platform tracking drought risk across Britain.

Michael Langguth, Co-founder, Carbon13, said: “The Climingo team’s market fit is extremely strong. Both founders have worked in this field for years, encountering the problem they’re solving first-hand. As we’ve just seen in Europe’s most recent heatwave, extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and disruptive. Weather and climate data models are highly geolocation- and asset-specific, so there’s a clear need for an independent organisation that can combine them.”
