Challenge announcement for the new 2025 big construction diversity challenge

The 15 challenges that teams will tackle at the 2025 Big Construction Diversity Challenge have been announced.
Designed to promote the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) across the construction sector, The Big Construction Diversity Challenge (BCDC) promotes the importance of EDI and how inclusivity can be tackled collaboratively and collectively.
Organised by multi-media specialists Nimble Media Ltd, the event is an opportunity for organisations to share best practice, network and help shape a more inclusive sector while recognising and rewarding employees with an adventurous day of fun.
The 2025 BCDC is being held at Newark Showground, Nottinghamshire, on 27 June and is intended to showcase the need for diversity of thought and skill within teams. The activities are also designed to be inclusive for all abilities, ensuring all team participants have a role to play during each session.
The Bring on the Beans Challenge illustrates the importance of togetherness and supporting one another, as one team member is blindfolded and guided through an inflatable course whilst carrying a homemade container of packing peanuts.
Blindfolded Face Painting tests trust and communication, as the teams’ best artists are challenged with recreating popular face paint designs with no visual aid – and must rely solely on verbal instruction.
The Haka will test the participants’ pride, strength and unity as they create their own Haka and perform on the hallowed ground that is the ‘Big Diversity Challenge Rugby Pitch’, whilst teams must work together on The Mighty Quiz to answer as many general knowledge questions in the 15-minute time limit.
The full list of challenges and descriptions are available on the event website: www.constructiondiversitychallenge.co.uk.
Delivering its first year, The BCDC has brought together key stakeholders in the industry, demonstrating their commitment to promoting EDI in the construction sector including the British Woodworking Federation, the Asbestos Control and Abatement Division and the Thermal Insulation Contractors Association.
The 2025 event’s chosen charity is construction industry charity CRASH – which will join teams on the day to support ‘Walk the Plank’, a fun and chaotic challenge where teams learn that communication and accommodating to each other are their key to success.
Chief Executive of CRASH, Trisha Pickersgill, says: “We are delighted that CRASH will be involved in the first Big Construction Diversity Challenge 2025, and we look forward to it growing and becoming an annual event to encourage equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in the construction industry.”
Vicky Binley, Nimble Media Ltd Director comments, “We hope The Big Construction Diversity Challenge captivates the construction sector as more organisations recognise the value of fostering diverse and inclusive teams,”
“This year’s event offers a day brimming with energy and collaboration for participants, underpinned by the message that inclusivity benefits both individuals and businesses alike.”
