The Big Construction Diversity Challenge 2026 – Driving Diversity Forward!
On 19 June 2026, companies representing the UK’s Construction industry came together at Newark Showground to participate in The Big Construction Diversity Challenge.
Since its launch in 2025, The Big Construction Diversity Challenge has quickly become a flagship event within the construction industry. Bringing together organisations from across the sector, the event showcases the industry’s commitment to advancing equality, diversity, and inclusion, while highlighting the significant benefits that diverse and inclusive workplaces can deliver.
The Challenge continues to grow year on year, attracting increasing support from companies, industry leaders, and key stakeholders. Through a unique combination of team-building, networking, and knowledge-sharing, it has established itself as a valued fixture in the construction industry’s event calendar and a powerful platform for driving positive change.
Delivered by Nimble Media, The Big Construction Challenge is the only team-based construction event showcasing the diversity the UK construction industry seeks to achieve. The challenges are designed to promote the message that diverse teams work better together, with companies taking part in a series of physical, mental and skill-based sessions including: Catwalk Challenge, Diversity Dance Off, Silent Disco, It’s a Knockout, Human Table Football, and Santa Pod Drag Race! The challenges are designed to test a team’s communication and teamwork skills and ensure that everyone has a role to play.
For many frontline colleagues, the event offered a unique opportunity to network beyond their own organisations, share experiences with peers across the industry and strengthen relationships with teammates away from the workplace. The challenges encouraged communication, trust and collaboration, helping participants develop skills that can be taken back into their everyday roles. By involving employees from all levels of the business, companies demonstrated their commitment to creating inclusive cultures where everyone has a role to play and the opportunity to thrive.
Tom Williamson, a competitor from BAM’s team BAMboozled, praised the event, saying, “I’ve found the event fantastic. I took part last year and really enjoyed it. The team spirit is brilliant, and it’s amazing to be surrounded by people who just want to have fun and connect with each other.”
“Events like this showcase just how diverse our industry is. We have people from all sorts of backgrounds and companies coming together, putting differences aside and simply enjoying each other’s company. At the end of the day, it’s about having fun and bringing people together.”
Tom also praised the organisation and accessibility of the event, commenting: “The event has been brilliantly organised. Everyone has been incredibly supportive and attentive, making sure people are comfortable and able to fully take part. As a wheelchair user, navigating the world can sometimes be challenging, so having people ensure the event is accessible and safe makes a huge difference.”
“I would absolutely recommend The Big Construction Diversity Challenge to anyone. It’s a fantastic day, a chance to have fun with colleagues and meet people from across the industry. The organisers have done an incredible job and continue to raise the bar year after year.”
Corporate Partnerships Manager, Mike Allen, from the event’s Chosen Charity, CRASH, opened the event, followed by a rousing keynote address from their Charity Ambassador, Mossie Lyons, Director of Kairos Community Trust.
Among the challenge suppliers, industry charity CRASH had participants test their communication and teamwork skills as part of their ‘Walk the Plank’ and ‘It’s a Knockout’ challenges.
The event is supported across the industry, and Nimble Media would like to extend a big thank you to the 2026 supporting partners:

The Walk the Plank Challenge Award, presented to the team that played to their skills, utilised all of the team, and showed the best teamwork during the challenge, was presented to ‘Diverse Heatwave 2.0’ of Worcester Bosch by the charity’s Corporate and Events Fundraiser, Ed Malloy.
And finally, the most coveted trophy of the day – The Team of the Year Award – for achieving the highest overall score with an impressive 242 out of a possible 260, went to ‘Bricks & Giggles’ from the Federation of Master Builders!
A Charity Tuck Shop and a Hamper Raffle raised funds for the CRASH Charity.
