A Norfolk housebuilder has donated 30 hi-vis kit bags to pupils at South Wootton Infant School in King’s Lynn for Road Safety Week (16th to 22nd November), helping young walkers to be safe and seen during darker mornings and evenings.
The donation was made by Barratt and David Wilson Homes which has recently released its first homes for sale at Castle Reach, located close to the school within the town.
The contribution forms part of the developer’s support of the annual Road Safety Week, which is led by the charity Brake.
Rebecca Burt, Head of School at South Wootton Infant School, said: “We want all our little ones to feel safe on their journey to and from school and it is important they can be seen, especially at this time of the year.
“We are grateful to Barratt and David Wilson Homes for the generous donation of hi-vis kit bags. The bags are a practical and useful way to keep our children safe, and they also remind families that road safety is something we all share responsibility for.”

Road Safety Week aims to raise awareness about road safety and encourages individuals, communities and organisations to take proactive steps to reduce accidents and protect lives on the roads.
The hi-vis kit bags donated by Barratt and David Wilson Homes will enable pupils to glow on the go while commuting to and from school, keeping them visible and safe.
It is estimated that 1,633 people were killed on UK roads in 2024, while around 29,537 were killed or seriously injured (Gov UK).
Simon Wood, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Anglia, said: “We are delighted to support South Wootton Infant School with these hi-vis kit bags and help pupils stay safe now the nights have drawn in.
“Following the launch of our Castle Reach development in King’s Lynn, we are committed to being part of this community and helping keep the roads around it safer.”
