STIEBEL ELTRON and Solarwatt deliver first fully integrated heat pump and solar energy system

The UK’s first completely integrated heat pump and solar energy system in a home has been unveiled, showing how multiple renewable technologies can maximise efficiency and deliver sustainable dwellings across the country.
Installed at a home in North Wales, the system represents a major milestone for STIEBEL ELTRON UK and Solarwatt’s collaboration to deliver renewable home energy solutions to the UK’s consumers.
Combining STIEBEL ELTRON’s heat pump system with Solarwatt’s solar panel technology, and smart energy management systems, the two companies created a single renewable energy package.
With the installation providing the home with sustainable, efficient, and cost-effective energy and heating, both companies are looking forward to driving the adoption of the system among homeowners across the UK and Ireland moving forward.
The project comes amid a focus on the development of sustainable dwellings from the UK Government, who committed to the construction of 300,000 eco-friendly homes each year over the next five years.
John Felgate, STIEBEL ELTRON UK Managing Director, said: “If we’re going to drive forward sustainable homes, we need to enable homeowners to optimise their energy usage.
“This collaboration represents a significant step forward in doing this by integrating Solarwatt’s revolutionary technology with our heat pumps to provide an end-to-end solution which will power Britain’s homes.”
“This installation is a clear demonstration of what’s possible when industry leaders collaborate,” added Neal Goddard, Managing Director at SOLARWATT UK & IRELAND.
“By combining smart software with renewable energy hardware, we’re helping homeowners take full control of their energy future.” He said.
STIEBEL ELTRON, a leading provider of heat pump technologies, began working with solar energy expert, Solarwatt, with a view to offering a holistic approach to the implementation of renewable technologies.
At the heart of the collaboration is Solarwatt’s advanced Manager Flex and STIEBEL ELTRON’s EM Trend software package, which both optimise the system and support the storing of energy.
Following years of close technological collaboration between the two companies to develop the combined technology, the management systems integrate together, with the homeowner able to control outputs via an app, allowing them to power large appliances, hold onto stored energy, and draw grid power when it suits.
Additionally, the intelligent control system allows the heat pump to automatically optimise energy consumption in response to changing weather conditions to utilise energy generated from Solarwatt’s solar panels more effectively.
A first-of-its-kind offering to the UK, the collaboration between STIEBEL ELTRON and Solarwatt has a proven track record, having been implemented successfully in Germany, where both companies are originally based.
As well as offering an all-encompassing renewable energy product offering for British homeowners, STIEBEL ELTRON UK and Solarwatt, share best practices and expertise with each other via training programmes so they are well placed to inform installers and consumers about what the package offers.
John said: “Delivering renewable energy solutions is at the heart of what we do at STIEBEL ELTRON and this is an important step in the journey towards sustainable, green housing across the UK.
“Solarwatt have an incredibly strong track record in solar systems, and we’re excited to drive the adoption of renewable heating technologies together.”
Neal added: “We’re thrilled to have delivered the first system in the UK with STIEBEL ELTRON, and we’re looking forward to continuing to connect state-of-the-art technologies to bring forward an all-encompassing, holistic approach to renewable energy solutions in homes across the country.”
The installation was carried out by Genfit, Solarwatt’s trusted partner with over 20 years of expertise in solar energy, who ensure a seamless process from planning to implementation, providing tailored advice to meet a homeowner’s sustainability and energy goals.
STIEBEL ELTRON and Solarwatt will be showcasing the integrated system at InstallerSHOW2025 this year, which takes place from 24th to 26th June at the NEC, Birmingham.
