Red Construction’s marathon and fundraising achievement
Avid runners from RED Construction recently completed two marathon challenges over two weekends and in two separate countries, raising a total of £25K for two vital charities close to their hearts, the Bedford Hospitals Charity and Friends and Pancreatic Cancer UK (PCUK).
Managing Director and PCUK Ambassador Graham Sturge ran his third Berlin Marathon on 25th September with Lisa Morris. Despite the humid conditions, they both completed the course and raised over £10k for Pancreatic Cancer UK, adding to Graham’s total of £100k fundraised for PCUK since he began running.
Last weekend, a record 80,000 participants took part in the London Marathon, including RED Constructions Compliance Manager James Ferdinando and Head of Marketing, Slawo Urban. They both completed the race and raised nearly £4k for their local Bedford’s Hospitals Charity and Friends adding to the team’s group a total of £15k.
Graham Sturge, Managing Director of RED Construction Group, commented: “Every marathon is unique, and Berlin was even more so, especially after the past 18-months. It was fantastic to run with so many people after such a long break. A big thanks to the RED Construction London Marathon team and everyone putting in such a huge amount of time and effort for the big day. It was a great achievement all around. I am proud of everyone involved and grateful for all the support we have been given along the way in reaching our fundraising targets for our chosen charities who need our support more than ever.”
To add to the achievements of the RED Construction Group team, Graham Sturge has already raised over £35,000 for the PCUK charity in 2019 by completing all the major global marathons: Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York. He is one of only five people in the UK who has achieved all six international events in one year.
