RECOM Solutions drives growth with £428M Public Sector Framework

RECOM director Jason McKnight

RECOM Solutions has secured a major boost to its growth plans with a raft of places on a new £428m public sector framework for core areas of its operations, including fire and safety compliance and project management.

Following a competitive tendering process, RECOM has been awarded places on five lots in the latest Rise Construction Framework, which will run until March 2030.

The framework will be used for procuring services across the north west, North Wales, Yorkshire, Humber and Lincolnshire by the healthcare, social care, education and housing sectors, emergency services, local authorities, government departments, museums and arts organisations, charities, third-sector groups and public bodies.

In addition to fire and safety compliance and project management, RECOM has gained places on the general construction, refurbishment and multi-disciplinary consultancy lots, for contracts up to £6m in value.

The RECOM group undertakes project management consultancy, main contracting and passive fire protection work nationwide across sectors including healthcare, education, retail, leisure, commercial and residential, facilities management and defence.

RECOM director Jason McKnight said: “Rise is one of the more active frameworks in the public sector. Securing multiple lots, including for new disciplines and broader project types, supports our long-term growth strategy in this area by creating opportunities to further expand our client base and our commercial footprint, especially in fire compliance and project management.

“It positions us as a preferred supplier for a wide range of construction projects to play a key role in delivering safe, compliant and high-quality built environment projects, and opens immediate access to call-offs without the need for separate procurement processes.

“Demand for specialist fire compliance expertise continues to grow, both for new-build and existing building remediation programmes, amid an ongoing focus on building safety, and therefore our appointment is especially significant for our passive fire protection division RECOM Fire Solutions.

“It is testament to the team to be not only reinstated on existing lots, but to broaden our reach by being included in new lots.”

RECOM Fire Solutions specialises in delivering works across live environments to limit the spread of fire, smoke and heat in buildings and structures.

Services include compartmentation and fire door condition surveys, installation and remediation of fire stopping and fire doors, intumescent paint application, overboarding and fire curtain installations.

The division, headed by Sarah Leadbetter, recently opened a base at Fort Dunlop in Birmingham to support its expanding pipeline of projects throughout the Midlands, along the M6 corridor and across the south west.

The RECOM group, which was crowned SME of the Year at the 2025 North West Regional Construction Awards, has its headquarters at Waters Edge Business Park in Salford Quays.

RECOM already has places on several other frameworks, including those with the University of Manchester, NHS Shared Business Services, Fusion21, the North West Construction Hub and the Constellia managed framework for the public sector.
