RapidTray, the new cavity tray and DPC system from OBEX, is particularly suited for the large volume of recladding projects currently underway. It has been developed to help contractors and specifiers address increasing pressure around compliance, installation speed and build consistency.

Since many projects now involve the recladding of residential and commercial brickwork façades following the Grenfell Tower disaster, there is a strong requirement for products specifically designed to facilitate this type of work, and which can be installed while the building remains occupied.

Because of its flexibility, with an integrated fixing strip, RapidTray has many advantages, compared to rigid stainless steel sections which are much more difficult to work with in locations where space can be severely restricted.

RapidTray simplifies on-site installation especially for recladding jobs, through a combination of pre-formed components, integrated fixings and a flexible membrane, reducing complexity and helping ensure consistency throughout the project. The pre-formed corners greatly add to the convenience of the system.

OBEX RapidTray achieves a Class A2-s1,d0 fire classification, offering performance which is supported by a comprehensive programme of independent testing and verification. Fire classification has been tested in accordance with BS EN 13501-1:2018, with testing carried out under conditions representative of real-world applications, including ventilated cavity scenarios.

The system has also undergone BBA water-flow testing and has a Kiwa agrément, demonstrating its effectiveness in managing moisture and protecting the building fabric over the long term.

As an OBEX Cortex product, RapidTray is supported by a structured delivery package that includes design input, specification guidance and on-site support through to final sign-off, helping ensure the system performs as intended throughout the build process. OBEX also offers free of charge, through-wall installation training, designed to equip contractors and installers with the knowledge and skills needed to install membranes correctly, including sealing critical details such as window corners, ducts and vents. OBEX personnel will carry out free-of-charge site visits as any project progresses, to ensure that the membrane installation meets the required standards, and then produce QA reports as required.
