Norwegian Skanska Vestfold hospital project brings in UK team

Skanska’s Norwegian and UK businesses have teamed up in a joint venture with Cura-gruppen for a NOK1.7bn (£162m) project to expand a hospital in Vestfold, Norway.

Skanska’s share of the contract with Sykehuset Vestfold is worth about NOK960m. The work is carried out by Skanska Norway (70%) in cooperation with Skanska UK (30%).

The project includes a new psychiatry building with a gross floor area of ​​about 12,000m2 and a building for somatic care of 33,000m2. The project also includes infrastructure, energy facilities and the demolition of existing hospital buildings.

The contract is based on the integrated project delivery (IPD) model, where the parties including subcontractors will cooperate in the implementation phase with common incentives. For the project, Skanska has gathered specialists from Norway, Sweden, UK and USA.

The psychiatry building is due for completion in March 2019 and second building should be completed during the first quarter 2021.
