Kier has been appointed by the Department for Education (DfE) to deliver a £24.7m project at Dover Grammar School for Boys, procured through the DfE Construction Framework with the project being selected as part of the DfE’s Priority School Building Programme (PSBP).

The project will encompass the design and construction of a new four-storey teaching block and attached four-court sports hall, with a two-court multi-use games area and grass football pitch.

The aim of the project is to provide modern facilities for the schools 860 11-18-year-old pupils and the new building will replace the current building which was constructed in the 1930s. To keep some of the history of the old school, Kier is relocating the existing pipe organ, a stained glass window and some historical plaques.

The project is due to be completed in summer 2023.

Kier is a leading provider of educational facilities in the UK. It has recently delivered a number of projects similar to Dover Grammar School for Boys, including Harris Academy Bromley which was part new build and part refurbishment of an existing 11-16-year-old, 900 place all girls secondary school. This comprised of the construction of a new three-storey building providing classrooms, science laboratories, a library and a sports hall.
