Impact takes centre stage as PAGABO launches new Community Awards
PAGABO has launched its new Community Impact Awards, with entries now open as the national procurement specialist prepares to celebrate projects that have made a lasting legacy and created meaningful community impact.
Launching for the very first time, the Community Impact Awards brings a fresh new platform for recognising excellence across the sector. Created to shine a spotlight on the projects, teams and organisations making a real difference to communities across the UK, the awards will celebrate partnerships, purpose and positive outcomes.
Featuring 14 categories – including an Outstanding Community Impact Project of the Year Award, a Social Value in Action Award and an Outstanding Legacy Award – the initiative will recognise real-world impact and achievement, with a strong focus on outcomes that put people at the heart of every project.
Amman Boughan, group CEO at Pagabo Group, said: “The Pagabo Community Impact Awards are about showcasing more than just the ‘best’ projects, and instead are all about showcasing that behind every successful project there is a combination of great planning, procurement and delivery that creates opportunities and leaves a meaningful legacy and lasting impact, far beyond the project itself.
“Built environment developments have a uniquely powerful role in creating positive transformation in people’s lives, communities, and local economies around the country. That’s exactly why we have launched this awards series to shine a spotlight on how these people and projects are raising the bar for built environment outcomes.
“We believe those stories need to be celebrated. In this modern era of the built environment, it’s no longer just about the value or scale of a project, but about what that investment brings to the people and places around it – and we’re firm believers that the procurement has a key role in setting the path for that positive social impact, acting as a force for good from the earliest stages.”
The awards will be spearheaded by the Pagabo Foundation, an initiative focused on improving mental health awareness and wellbeing across communities, and all proceeds from the awards ceremony will be donated to the Foundation. A designated mental health category will also be judged separately by the Pagabo Foundation trustees.
Jason Stapley, chief procurement officer at Pagabo and chairman for the Pagabo Foundation, said: “Global stigma around mental health is slowly dissipating, but it remains a prominent issue within the construction sector.
“Over the years, the funds raised through charity challenges and donations have allowed us to make vital mental health training and advice available for those in the sector that need extra support. We’re also incredibly passionate about making sure that there are no barriers to accessing training, and so the additional support from the Community Impact Awards this year will provide financial support particularly for SMEs to access vital training and support services.”
The entry window for the awards is open from 16 June to 9 September, with eligibility for all categories detailed on the awards website. The shortlist for each category will be announced ahead of the awards ceremony on 19 November at the iconic Victoria Warehouse in Manchester, a venue renowned for its strong community focus and rich industrial heritage.
