Construction milestone reached at the majestic in Leeds

Central core of The Majestic Leeds

New images have been released showing the development speeding ahead on the historic Leeds City Centre building.

The landmark building, which first opened as a 2,400-seat cinema back in 1922, is being transformed to provide some 66,000 sq ft of Grade A office space across 7 floors in the heart of Leeds’ city centre. The office space will be housed behind the original façade and an elegant, new three-storey atrium will create a grand and new majestic entrance.

Mark Finch, Real Estate Director at Rushbond, said: “It is amazing to see this transformational project taking shape and to celebrate reaching this important construction milestone – as one can now start to see a new world-class office building emerging from behind the soon-to-be remodeled and much-loved wrapper.”

Mark Gibson, Managing Director for the Scotland and Northern Region at Sir Robert McAlpine said:

“This is a significant milestone in the construction of this amazing project that we are excited to reach. As an iconic landmark of the city’s landscape, it is a real privilege to be creating something truly remarkable which will set the benchmark for leading-edge workspace in the City.”

Designed by DLA Architecture, the Majestic will also feature terraces on the fourth and fifth floors overlooking City Square, alongside a domed circulatory space, re-creating the historic Palm Court.
