Celebrate a Decade of Impact with Building Heroes as they Celebrated Their Tenth Anniversary Gala Dinner at Drapers Hall, London

Building Heroes, a prominent multi-award-winning charity dedicated to supporting military veterans through skills training and employment opportunities in the construction industry, celebrated a decade of transformative impact at its Gala Dinner, which took place at Drapers Hall in London on Wednesday, 23rd October.
The Gala Dinner was a celebratory evening of reflection, celebration, and commitment to Building Heroes’ mission. The event marked the charity’s significant milestone of ten years of service in supporting the Armed Forces Community to build brighter futures through education, training, and employment support in the construction industry.

Throughout the past decade, Building Heroes has championed over 3,500 veterans’ integration into civilian life by equipping them with valuable construction skills and facilitating personal development and entry into sustainable careers. The Gala Dinner honoured the achievements of those who have benefited from the charity’s programmes while highlighting the ongoing commitment to expanding opportunities for veterans nationwide.

“We are immensely proud to commemorate this milestone with our supporters, partners, and most importantly, the veterans whose dedication inspires us daily,” said Christopher Charles, Chief Executive at Building Heroes. “This Gala Dinner is not only a celebration of past accomplishments but also a reaffirmation of our vision to continue supporting the military community through education and employment in the construction industry.”

Sponsored by Annington, Lovell, Vistry Group, Wickes TradePro and The Builders Conference, the evening featured inspiring stories from Building Heroes graduates, a charity auction, and light entertainment with the opportunity to network with industry leaders and supporters of the veteran community. Guests enjoyed gourmet dining in an evening of elegance and purpose.

In addition to celebrating a decade of impact, the team also mark their recent award wins, making their tenth anniversary an even greater success.

At the beginning of October, their remarkable Founder and former Chief Executive, Brendan Williams, won the Business Community Impact Award at the Soldering on Awards, which recognise individuals, groups, communities, and charities who serve Armed Forces personnel and share the same mission and values to help those who have kept our country safe.

Furthermore, at the end of September, they also won the Corporate Partnership of the Year (Medium Category) at The ThirdSector Awards, which recognise and reward outstanding achievements of individuals, companies, and charities who operate in the third sector, recognising them for their efforts and impact.

This award highlights their partnership with The Vistry Group. It exemplifies a groundbreaking collaboration to facilitate immersive training opportunities and the transition of Armed Forces personnel into civilian careers in construction.

Both these awards are a testament to the hard work, dedication and passion of the team at Building Heroes. They support our mission of helping service personnel transition from service to civilian lives, and they all work endlessly to reduce veteran unemployment while bridging the skills gap in the construction industry.
