bwd Announces New Management Team to Drive Growth and Innovation

bwd (Barron Wood Distribution), a leading transport logistics company headquartered in Preston with a depot in Glasgow, has announced a new executive management team to drive further growth and innovation.

bwd has grown rapidly since it was founded in 1993 by brothers David and John Fairbrother, who have maintained the company’s long-standing commitment to exceptional service and reliability. As the company continues to expand its operations, it is now broadening its leadership team with experienced directors who share the company’s values and vision for the future. Ten newly appointed directors will work alongside Derek Lyon, who has recently been made Group Managing Director, to take the business forward into its next stage of development.

bwd’s newly appointed leadership team includes:

  • Derek Lyon, Group Managing Director – Formerly financial director of bwd, Derek has worked at a senior level in the business for almost 22 years.
  • Andy Carr, Group Outsource Operations Director – Bringing extensive industry expertise and with almost 25 years’ experience at bwd, Andy will oversee daily operations to ensure efficiency.
  • Anthony Robinson, Group Financial Director – Anthony will step into Derek’s previous role to lead financial strategy and planning to support the company’s expansion. Anthony is a qualified Chartered Accountant, with 14 years’ service at bwd.
  • Harvey Douglas, Group Commercial Director – Focused on growth opportunities, Harvey will lead efforts in market expansion. Harvey has 30 years’ experience within the logistics industry.
  • Andrew Vickers, Group Construction Operations Director – Andrew heads up bwd’s strong construction division, having worked within the industry for over 37 years.
  • Claire Hood, Scotland Operations Director – Claire has responsibility for the continued smooth management and growth of the Glasgow depot. Claire has worked at bwd for 17 years.
  • Jack Fairbrother, Group Systems Director – Jack assumes responsibility for sourcing, implementing and maintaining excellent systems to support growth across the Group and ensure excellent service delivery to customers. He has 15 years’ experience working with bwd.
  • Jamie Wright, Preston UK Operations Director – Jamie has been with bwd for 15 years and will oversee business in the UK.
  • Paul Taylor, Group International Operations Director – Paul has over 17 years’ experience in securing global business opportunities and supporting international customers.
  • Kelly Fairbrother, Director Accounts – Kelly will be responsible for leading the payroll and accounts team from the Preston HQ, having 10 years’ experience at bwd.
  • Mike Ogwin, Group Administration Director – Mike has worked at bwd for 20 years and will head up the business administration team to ensure everything runs like clockwork.
