Amey signs NASC safe scaffolding charter
Facilities management specialists Amey has become the latest leading organisation to sign the NASC’s Safe Scaffolding Charter
The company, which looks after the maintenance, operation and improvement of 23,000+ Ministry of Defence (MoD) buildings across a network of estates, specifies ‘NASC-only’ for its scaffolding-related works within its Defence contracts.
Amey follows Nuclear New Build Generation – the company behind the development and eventual operation of Hinkley Point C – construction specialists DE Construct and principal contractors Knight Harwood in signing the NASC Charter, recognising the ever-growing number of organisations that place NASC membership at the heart of their scaffolding contractor procurement policies.
Peter Franklin, HSEQ Director for Amey’s Defence contracts said: “Our work across the MoD Estate requires us to use competent scaffolding suppliers on many of our projects. Being part of the NASC Safe Scaffolding Charter demonstrates Amey’s commitment to the safety of our workforce, client and customers by only using NASC member scaffold contractors, ensuring a high standard of work is achieved in this high-risk activity.”
Robin James, NASC Managing Director, said: “We are thrilled that Amey has requested to sign the NASC Safe Scaffolding Charter. For Amey it was the assurance that our independently-audited, experienced and expert members work to incredibly high safety standards that led them to insist on ‘NASC-only’ for their scaffolding needs.
“We’re happy to recognise this decision via our Wall of Honour on our dedicated Charter webpage and present them with a Charter logo and certificate. We look forward to adding many more businesses to this wall in the coming weeks and months.”
