Amey has been named by Network Rail as the provider for five of its new Civil Examination Framework Agreement (CEFA) contracts.

Awarded the sole contract for the Scotland region, Amey will cover the examination of all railway structures for the next five years, including structures examinations, operational property inspections and earthworks examinations.

Amey will also take asset management responsibility for the structures (South East) and tunnels within the Southern region and all building assets in the Wales and Western region for the next four years, as well as the majority of building assets in the Eastern region for the next three years.

These new contracts combined are worth approximately £22m per annum with the potential for future contract extensions.

With local knowledge and understanding of the railway network, Amey’s examiners provide an intelligent approach to asset management. Combined with Amey’s specialist capabilities and technology to analyse asset data, route examiners can provide strategic advice to help Network Rail make informed decisions about their assets. This integrated approach will support Network Rail to optimise the maintenance regimes of complex railway assets.

Amey shares Network Rail’s commitment to addressing skills shortages, promoting diversity and encouraging a more inclusive workplace. Through commitments such as recruiting apprentices every year and developing incorporated engineers through bespoke railway engineering degree apprenticeship schemes with Sheffield Hallam University, together Amey and Network Rail will inspire tomorrow’s workforce on the CEFA contract.
