Miller Plant Makes £1.7m Investment in Cat® Machines

Miller Plant Ltd. has invested in £1.7m of new Cat® machinery and additional technology, including some of the UK’s first new model Cat 730 articulated trucks.

Family-owned Miller Plant Ltd. based in Inverurie Scotland, has invested in seven machines from Finning UK & Ireland. The investment includes a Cat 966 XE medium wheel loader, a Cat 340 hydraulic excavator, a Cat 330 hydraulic excavator, a Cat CS13 vibratory soil compactor, a Cat CS16 vibratory soil compactor and two of the UK’s first new model Cat 730 articulated trucks.

Ian Miller, Managing Director at Miller Plant Ltd. said: “All our new Cat machines will go on to support major civil and infrastructure projects across the North-East and we are looking forward to seeing the efficiency and productivity benefits the integrated technology brings. We are particularly looking forward to using the advanced idle management system on the Cat 966 XE wheel loader as it will help to reduce fuel consumption and costs for our customers – an essential feature in today’s economic climate.”

Now in its fourth generation, Miller Plant Ltd. delivers Bulk Earthworks, Contract Crushing, Plant Hire, Haulage and Aggregate supply and has worked with Finning UK & Ireland for over 30 years to deliver innovation and reliability to its national customer base. As part of its recent investment, Miller Plant Ltd. has received some of the first Cat 730 articulated trucks in the UK.

Ian added: “We have invested in Cat 730s as they come with the added benefit of smart technology that is designed to maximise productivity, operator comfort and safety while working in demanding applications. With the addition of Cat Object Detect with Stability Assist, our trucks will be able to warn operators if the machine is nearing its tipping threshold and the Dynamic Roll Protection will actively reduce fuel and apply brakes when cornering too fast.

“Our significant investment from Finning will support our commitment in providing our customers with modern machines that deliver the highest performance standards in a sustainable and safe way.”

As part of the investment, both the Cat 340 and Cat 330 hydraulic excavators come with Cat 2D Grade Assist technology which will reduce passes and improve consistency for operators of all experience levels, and Cat E Fence, which allows operators to set boundaries and reduce the risk of harm to people and machines on site.

In addition, all machines are equipped with VisionLink®  to ensure Miller Plant Ltd. has complete visibility of its assets and operations, with condition, location and service history monitoring as well as remote diagnostics. Additionally, VisionLink reports on idle time and fuel burn rates to highlight cost savings opportunities and cut carbon emissions.

John Stuart, Major Account Manager at Finning UK & Ireland said: “Finning are very pleased to have been able to support Miller Plant Ltd. maximise its most recent investment in Cat machines with additional technology, ensuring that it can continue to deliver on its reputation for ensuring the highest performance and service for its customers across a range of applications.

“Miller Plant Ltd. is founded on a commitment to providing value to its customers, with efficiency and safety at its core, and the added technology means the new Cat machines and continued support and warranties from Finning will help them to deliver on this commitment for years to come.”
