Belfast-Based Developer Oakland Holdings to Lead Bangor’s Regeneration

Oakland Holdings Acquires Full Stake in Bangor Marine Ltd to Fast-Track Long-Awaited Queens Parade Redevelopment
Oakland Holdings, the Belfast-based property developer known for delivering landmark commercial and residential projects across Northern Ireland, has announced a major milestone in the long-anticipated regeneration of Bangor’s seafront.
Guy Hollis of Oakland Holdings confirmed that The Crown Estate has signed all outstanding legal agreements, and as of 24th June, Oakland Holdings has officially acquired Farrans’ shareholding in Bangor Marine Ltd, solidifying its position as a lead partner in the transformation of Bangor.
“We are delighted to formalise our involvement in this transformative regeneration project, which will place Bangor on a sustainable path toward economic and cultural revitalisation,” said Hollis. “The recent months have required intensive behind-the-scenes work, and while it’s been a complex process, we understand that the community is eager to see visible progress. We share that same urgency and commitment.”
Oakland Holdings is known for pioneering sustainable development in Northern Ireland, having successfully delivered Merchant Square—an award-winning environmentally responsible office space and PWC’s largest UK office outside London—as well as Belfast’s first low-carbon aparthotel, Room2.
“Our track record, in partnership with Belfast Commercial Funding, shows that we turn ambitious visions into reality, with sustainability at the core. We’re bringing that same focus to the regeneration of Queens Parade,” Hollis added.
Acknowledging past delays in the Queens Parade redevelopment, Hollis emphasised Oakland’s determination to move swiftly alongside partners including Karl Group, Ards & North Down Borough Council, and the Department for Communities.
“We understand the frustration felt by local businesses and residents. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to restore Bangor’s position as a premier coastal destination. Our team is already working on delivering a waterfront development that reflects the town’s potential and heritage.”
