EDGE makes London move as capital’s construction demand soars

EDGE Consulting Engineers has opened a new office in Euston Road, London, as part of its latest UK expansion, expanding its UK presence to support the capital’s fast-paced construction and regeneration plans.

With housebuilding targets rising, retrofit projects scaling, and infrastructure under pressure, the move puts EDGE’s structural, civil, and geo-environmental expertise right where it’s needed.

“London is building more, but expectations are higher too,” said Managing Director Jonathan Shaw. “Faster programmes, lower carbon, better value. It all starts with the engineering.”

EDGE has already delivered several major London projects, including the Marshall Building at the London School of Economics. Working alongside Mace, EDGE provided post-tensioned framing design to resolve complex sequencing challenges and structural transfers across the nine-storey development. The £140m scheme went on to win both the Concrete Society’s Outright Award and the Post-Tensioning Association’s Project of the Year.

Other schemes include the regeneration of Lewisham Gateway, where EDGE re-engineered four towers and diverted two rivers to unlock delivery. And structural concept support on the Daubeny Lab at Oxford Science Park, which was recently featured in New Civil Engineer for saving £4m and cutting over 1,700 tonnes of CO₂.

While EDGE has worked on London projects since the firm’s inception, the team has always believed that growing into the capital should be led by the right person; someone who understands the company’s people-first culture and practical, delivery-focused mindset.

That person is Liam Fraser, who relocates from EDGE’s Sunshine Coast office in Australia to lead the new team.

Liam Fraser, Principal Structural Engineer, EDGE Consulting Engineers

A Principal Engineer with deep expertise in post-tensioned concrete, complex structural systems and international codes, Liam brings both technical strength and global experience to the role.

“It’s a brilliant opportunity,” said Fraser. “Personally, and professionally, it’s a big move, but one that reflects how we are growing globally. Opening the London office gives us even greater reach and means we can support more projects at pace.”

The London office is part of wider UK growth, with EDGE looking to diversify beyond its Manchester base and expand into new regions, supporting its continued delivery across housing, retrofit, regeneration, and infrastructure.

Founded in Manchester in 2012, EDGE now operates globally across the UK, Australia, Asia and the Middle East, with a focus on intelligent, practical design that works in the real world.
