New homes plan approved for Fernhill heath

A total of 40 new homes will be built in Fernhill Heath after development plans were given the go-ahead.

William Davis Homes will build the development on a 2.2 hectare piece of land off Dilmore Lane, with work set to begin on site late 2025.

The developer’s plans were approved by Wychavon District Council’s planning committee on Thursday (5th December).

The development will be accessed from Dilmore Lane and will include public open space with a nature play trail running through it, as well as five allotments. A mature oak tree on the site will be retained within the public open space.

William Davis Homes will build 17 different housetype designs across the site, with homes to range in size from one to five-bedrooms.

The mix of homes will include bungalows and two-and-a-half storey properties. Homes will feature brick and tile finishes, with brick verges, canopies or porches and brick detailing to all properties.

Out of the 40 new homes, 16 will be made available as affordable housing including properties offered for sale under the First Homes scheme. These properties can be bought by first-time buyers for up for 30 per cent less than market value.

Landscaping work will increase the volume of hedgerows on the site by more than a quarter and will include the planting of 76 new trees.

As part of the development plans, the housebuilder will make financial contributions to fund local infrastructure, the details of which will now be agreed with the local authority.

Sarah Whetton, group land director for William Davis Homes, said: “We are pleased to have been granted approval on our plans for development in Fernhill Heath.

“We take great pride in the design and craftsmanship which goes into our developments, and we believe these plans will create an attractive development of quality new homes to help meet housing need in this part of the West Midlands.

“We look forward to releasing the first homes for sale and to welcoming the first residents to their new homes in 2026.”
