South East Construction Expo 2018 offered exciting new insights

The South East Construction Expo 2018, held in Sussex for the first time, was a huge success according to organisers of the event at the South of England Showground in Ardingly on September 13.

“We were delighted to welcome over 2,000 leading lights from the region’s construction industry, where they could meet buyers, explore new projects, network with other businesses in the South East and sample the industry’s latest technology,” said Carole Black from South East Construction Expo.

“The place was really buzzing and we had great feedback from our delegates who enjoyed an exciting programme of speakers, including experts such as Wayne Hemingway MBE of The Design Council Board and Neil Edwards of the Builders’ Conference trade association, sharing their industry experience, tackling subjects such as the immediate and long-term future of the construction industry and answering questions on how to prepare for Brexit.”

Industry leaders from Kier and The London Resort spoke about the learning journey provided by previous and current projects, whilst specialists in cyber security, design, marketing and advertising were on hand to offer advice to those wishing to grow and protect their brand.

The popular ‘Meet the Buyer’ area was a hive of opportunity with business leaders from Gatwick Airport, Lower Thames Crossing, Orbis and East Sussex County Council discussing new projects and plans with attendees looking to scope out new connections and directions.

The South East Construction Expo is the perfect opportunity to network and delegates had the chance to join Kevin Byrne, founder of Checkatrade, and Anne Timpany, co-Founder of multi award winning commercial plumbing firm On Tap Plumbers, for breakfast. There was also the opportunity to meet others in the industry at the BIG construction dinner, entertainment provided by Gyles Brandreth.

This is the first year that the 10 year old trade show, previously held in Kent, has visited Ardingly.
